You: Audiobook vs. TV Series

You by Caroline Kepnes was one of the last audiobooks I listened to in 2018. I typically don’t go for thrillers but this stalker story-line was hip with social media front and foremost in the story line. I was on a roll last year of listening to books that were being made into movies and TV series, so when I came across You, I was definitely open to giving it a listen.

I just finished binge watching, You on Netflix. AND WOW... the series was FANTASTIC!!! The casting for Joe was perfect zero disappointment there! Actor Penn Badgley was equal parts sincere and disturbed. The addition of the Paco, the young boy neighbor melted my heart instantly. I liked how Joe was protective of Paco, it showed a softer side to the Joe’s obsessed stalker persona. I also really liked how the series added diversity to the supporting characters in the book, Joe’s 2nd love interest in the book was Italian-American and in the series the role was cast as African-American. And Peach was Caucasian in the book and they selected a Canadian-Filipino actress for the series.

I truly loved the audiobook but You the TV series beat out the book for me. Very happy to hear You was picked up by Netflix for a second season and the author Caroline Kepnes will be in on the writing for Season 2! YAY

Check out the quiz I made on Goodreads about the book and TV series and friend me while you are there 😊!

Comment below if you read or listened to You. And if you watched the series want to hear you thoughts and recap!
