Looking at Fitness as a Friendship

During my first diet in the 90’s I started walking 30 minutes a day and it aided in my weight loss. Once I was in all my new clothes and enjoying life I didn’t think I needed the diet or the walk. Of course I was wrong and the weight came back. Once I made it back to fitness 6 years ago, I look at exercise separate from weight loss. That’s when fitness turned into a friendship for me.

Fitness has been a good friend to me over the years, with me through the good and the bad times, the highs and the lows of life. Fitness is the friend that always makes you feel good about yourself and that is always available when your actual friends aren't free to hang out. Exercise let’s me enjoy my other interests as well like fashion, music and reading. Putting together my coordinated workout outfits entertains me and at times gets me out the door to the workout. During my workout I enjoy playlists I have built or listen to a interesting audiobook. Then once the workout is complete I have that wonderful feeling you feel after hanging with a good friend, I had fun, I feel enlightened  or I am just HAPPY!
